ゾウに関する有名な話があります。あの大きく、力の強いゾウを従わせるにはどうすればいいか。人間が乗ったり、芸を教え込んだりしているのも考えてみれば不思議なことです。従順なゾウを育てるには、ゾウがまだ小さいうちから木の杭に縄で縛っておくそうです。小さいゾウは、まだ力が強くないので、木の杭から逃げようとしても逃げられません。そして、大きくなって、力が強くなり、逃げ出すことができるようになった頃は、その木の杭がなくても、縄で縛られているだけで「もう逃げることはできない」と悟り、もはや抵抗しなくなるそうです。
人間でもこれと同じことが起こります。ただ人間の場合はもっと複雑で、木の杭や縄という物理的な制限がなくても、心理的に不可能を感じることで、自分から行動するのをやめてしまうことになります。簡単なもので、親から怒られたり、教えられたり、まわりがそうしているからということで「あ、わたしにもできないんだ」と学習してしまうのです。
今、本当はやりたいと思っているのに、実行できないと思っていること、それは真実でしょうか。自分のなかの常識を疑ってみると、だんだんおもしろくなってきます。普段のスーパーの買い物でも割引されていないと買ってはいけないと思い込んでいたり、ある価格以上の商品は買わないことにしていたり。思い切ってはじめた好きなことの勉強も「私には難しすぎる」とあきらめたり。
それは自分のなかの可能性を自分でつぶしていることと同じです。今、自分が思いついたことはすべて、今、実行できる可能性があるから、今、その情報に出会っているはずです。本当は、心の奥底で強い思いを感じているのです。それを無視して、心地よく過ごせるはずがありません。
自分の常識を疑いましょう。この頭で想像できることに「できない」「やれない」ことはありません。思いつたことは自分の可能性です。心には無限の可能性があるのです。
陰陽五行による解説
自分の「常識」というのは、現在を生きる自分とっての「現実」であり、陰陽五行では「土」に象徴されます。五行の「土」は「花壇」のような「枠」であり、ここには「育てるが、腐らせる」という重要な２面性があります。つまり、ひとつの「常識」のなかに囚われ続けると、やがて出るはずの芽もでなくなるということです。
この「土」の枠組みから抜け出すためには、自分の「常識」を疑って、この枠の外の世界があることに気がつくことからはじめる必要があります。このカードは『FLIP IT UPSIDE DOWN（逆さまにする）』とありますが、まさに世界がひっくり返るような気づきがあってはじめて、「土」から抜け出していくことができるのです。
このときはたらく力のことを「金の触媒」といいます。これまで作り上げてきた自分のちっぽけな常識を破壊するような気づきのことです。ただ、この気づきは「これまで通りいたいひと」「成長を求めていないひと」にとっては、厳しいもの、怖いものとして目に移ります。変化をなかば強制的に起こそうとする力ですから。逆に、成長を求め、本来の自分になっていくことを望むひとには、強力な味方となってくれるパワーです。
